Geology and Hydrogeology
Since the development of Federal environmental rules by the USEPA beginning the 1970’s, most environmental permitting projects have been required to design groundwater protection systems and groundwater monitoring systems. These monitoring system designs are generally required to be based on site-specific geologic and groundwater characterization.

The geologic staff at Biggs and Mathews consists of geologists and hydrogeologists experienced in the detailed characterization of the geology and hydrogeology of sites throughout the United States with particular emphasis on facilities in Texas and Oklahoma. Comprehensive groundwater characterizations consisting of regional geology and hydrogeology, site stratigraphy including detailed correlations of complex facies, interpretation of individual and multiple groundwater zones, interpretation of water levels, groundwater flow directions, and hydraulic conductivities of complex lithologies are routinely included in site characterization studies completed by Biggs and Mathews.
Groundwater monitoring systems designed by Biggs and Mathews staff have been approved and installed at many sites across Texas and Oklahoma. Biggs and Mathews routinely completes monitoring wells installation reports and conducts low flow purging demonstrations for submittal to regulatory agencies.
Biggs and Mathews' Geologic staff have conducted comprehensive fault and seismic studies for waste facilities throughout Texas and Oklahoma. Aerial photography interpretation, geophysical studies, site specific surface evaluations and subsurface investigations are typical components of a fault study.
